Drinking water on the road
Drinking water is a road trip essential and there are tons of ways to stay hydrated on the road. When I’m out in my van I typically use the water from our on board tank for dishes/showers/etc. and pick up a few gallons of fresh water from gas stations along the way. However, there are a number of filtration systems that can be good options for full time van lifers or people that want the convenience of a drinking water tap.
The water pump that we typically install comes with a particulate filter. I would say this is the bare minimum.
UV filters: for extra peace of mind you might value a UV filtration system. We have installed the Acuva Wanderer in a couple of vans.
UV + Particulate filter: The easiest, most comprehensive drinking water filter that we have installed is the Guzzle H20 Stealth Flex 5. These come with both a carbon filter and a UV filter for multi stage filtration. We recommend installing this type of filter to a dedicated drinking faucet rather than your sink’s cold water line to avoid a drop in water pressure.
