Climate Control
Keeping things comfortable year round in this moving metal box
The most important piece of the climate control puzzle is the insulation. We used a precut insulation kit from DEI in this van. It is also important to cover the windows when trying to keep heat in or out. We like using Van Essential Window (and fan) covers in our projects. These add a little extra insulation and even reflective material if you choose to the windows and fans.
A Maxxair 7500K fan above the bed keeps things breezy when the bunk windows are open for extra air flow. We always use a roof adapter on these fan installations so that the fan sits nice and flat on the roof. For those extra hot summer days we installed a Houghton Low Profile Air Conditioner in the back of the van (it also has a heat pump). For winter camping, the Espar/Eberspaecher Diesel Aqua Heater Kit keeps things nice and toasty and doubles as an on demand water heater as long as their is diesel in the tank.
